Historical information and data gathered in the City of East Cleveland Master Plan prepared back in 2003 draws from residents, business owners, and merchants and community goals developed by the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission. As the City continues to move forward it helps to take a look back to assess the progress and things that the City still needs to tackle. Here are excerpts…
Strengths:
People of EC, Geographic location, government representation/city services, physical/environmental/financial assets; housing stock, community organizations and programs
Needs:
Economic development/job creation; affordable housing/housing issues; infrastructure repair and improvements; community image; commercial/retail development; public safety and crime prevention; health issues/needs; child/youth issues/needs; community and family values; increased communication; open space and recreation; government functions.
Primary Goals Outlined by the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission:
Strengthen employment and economic development opportunities; Maintain and revitalize neighborhoods, provide suitable living environment, develop and strengthen partnerships; enhance the management of the City government; and improve community image (aka branding/appearance).
